This Privacy Policy describes how AICA (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the AICA website, mobile application, and related services (collectively, the “Service”). AICA is an AI Intercultural Communication Assistant: it helps you understand context and phrasing across cultures—it is not a generic translation-only product.

By using the Service, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

Information we collect

Information you provide

  • Account and profile — If you create an account, we may collect identifiers such as your email address and display name.
  • Content you submit — Text you enter for analysis, personas you configure, preferences (such as tone or directness in Pro features), and similar inputs needed to provide guidance.
  • Waitlist — If you join our launch waitlist, we collect your email address (and, when you are signed in, an optional user identifier) to notify you about AICA.

Information collected automatically

  • Device and usage — Such as app version, device type, general diagnostics, and how you interact with the Service (for example, feature usage), to maintain security and improve the product.
  • Communications — If you contact us (for example at hello@askaica.app), we keep your message and contact details to respond.

We do not sell your personal information.

How we use information

We use information to:

  • Provide, operate, and improve the Service (including cloud-assisted analysis where applicable).
  • Authenticate accounts and prevent abuse.
  • Send service-related messages, waitlist updates, and (where allowed) product news—you can opt out of marketing emails as described in those messages.
  • Comply with law and protect our rights and users.

Conversation history and encryption

Consistent with how we describe the product:

  • On-device history — Where the Service stores conversation or scenario history on your device, that data is encrypted on your device as implemented in the app.
  • Cloud-assisted analysis — When you use cloud-assisted analysis, your scenario text may be processed to generate guidance. As described in our product materials, that content is not stored for reuse as conversation history in the same way as on-device data, and is not used to train general-purpose machine learning models for third parties. Technical implementation details may evolve; we will reflect material changes in this policy or in-app notices.

Service providers

We may use trusted vendors for hosting, analytics, authentication, email delivery, and similar functions. They process information only on our instructions and under appropriate safeguards.

Retention

We retain information as long as needed to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Retention periods can vary by data type (for example, waitlist emails until launch communications are complete or you unsubscribe).

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at hello@askaica.app. You may also adjust certain settings in the app or unsubscribe from marketing emails via the link in those emails.

International transfers

If you use the Service from outside the country where we operate, your information may be processed in countries that may have different data protection rules. We take steps designed to protect your information in line with this policy and applicable law.

Children

The Service is not directed at children under 13 (or the age required by your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and update the “Last updated” date. For material changes, we may provide additional notice (for example, in-app or by email).
